About Wayne, NJ

Wayne Township is located in Passaic County, in northern New Jersey.  It is 26 square miles and is home to roughly 54,000 residents. 

Wayne's history goes back to the 1600s when settlers from New York bought 5000 acres of land in northern NJ.  The village was part of Essex County and then part of Bergen County before the formation of Passaic County.  IT was named for a Revolutionary War hero, General Anthony Wayne. Wayne's Schools

Wayne's public schools server 9,000 students in 14 schools.  The two high schools in the district are Wayne Hills High School and Wayne Valley High School.  Information about the school district is available at its website.
